Newground is a quiet place

Posted by TGRummy - December 11th, 2018

I didn't realize how slow this website has become. Seems like the traffic here isn't what it used to be.

You can blame that on how most of the internet has become a mass consumption machine; due to the User interface here on Newgrounds, it's harder to get to stuff. So, it's slowed down quite a bit in favor of places like Twitter/Tumblr/Facebook where you just scroll and gorge on things. I myself stopped using NG for around 5 years.

However, a thing I've noticed is that it's a bit easier to interact with content creators around here, which is a lot harder in other places. Outside of here, creators are notified every time someone consumes their work, rather than when people talk about it and take time to digest it.

It's rooted in this distinct level of interaction and that's what makes it stand out I find; it's a different way to keep it rolling, be it by just making stuff or talking to people, as opposed to just retweeting (which is easier and cheaper but shallow). Seems more worthwhile in the grand scheme of things, even though it's "slow".

Yeah, I figured people used NewGrounds as a stepping stone to become something bigger. I have to admit, I haven't been on NewGrounds for a while too. I didn't used to go here for adult content I used to simply download music and play flash games here. But now I guess people just moved on.

I've been on other platforms, and I had a few hick-ups with admins. I got some pics flagged for dumb reasons. Tumblr isn't the first, or will be the last website to ban or delete porn. It kinda made me realize how important it is to have a website like NewGrounds. It's not owned by some major corporation. It's not bios toward content creators. I never thought of posting porn here. Honestly, I don't know if I should since I don't see Newgrounds as a place people would go to to fap and stuff. But hey, if it helps to support a good website then why not.
